Final Project — Physical Action Animation

INSTRUCTIONS

TASK

Using the character we built in Project 1, we had to animate a 5-second physical action sequence for the final project in this module. We had to select an action scene that required us to move physically, such a chase, brawl, or sporting event.

I decided to pick a scene taken from the animatic from film studies module and worked on the storyboard.

Starting with the animation, I drew all the frames on procreate as well as the backgrounds and fully coloured them on procreate as well.

After that, I combined all the frames drawn onto after effects and added a couple of effects.

The first one used a wiggle animation effect and I adjusted the speed and the amount of it to make it have a wiggle camera shake effect as if the camera is from Nyx's eyes.

I added a fading blur transition inbetween the clips to have a smooth transition.

FEEDBACK

- Its optional whether you want it to be animated in twos but ensure that it has a dynamic action throughout the animation.

REFLECTION

This project was done on a time constraint due to spending too much time on the animatic so I tried my best to depend on the colours as well as the transition on the first part by adding the blur effect and adding the wiggle effect to give it more of a realistic affect as if Nyx was pulling him. Overall, it may not be my best work fully put out and I may not be fully satisfied with it but I think for a short amount of time it turned out okay. I believe details on the skirt flowing as well as the limbs could be animated more smoother as it looked stiff. Other small details as well as the clothes and the hair could also probably be further animated as it was still thus making it look a bit stiff.
