REFLECTION
1) What have I learnt from this module?
This module has taught me many things, from implementing design principles on each project to discovering and enhancing my various art styles through using different medias of art, ranging from digital art to hands on traditional art like the half sculpture-half painting artwork I did for balance. On every project, I've developed a natural instinct to implement design principles to emphasize and enhance the context and the message of the design, instead of usually drawing freely without considering any design principles which in turn improved my artwork as a whole. Due to the systematic method of implementing a progressive timeline to show progress every week, it pushed me to improve my time management and helped me keep track with my work every week so that I was always caught up.

2) What did I enjoy the most?
I really enjoyed and appreciated the freedom that was given to create any form of design which gives us more room for exploration for various medias. It made the projects very much enjoyable as I got to express my creativity and my ideas freely as how I like them to be. When I was doubtful of my design, Ms Yip aided me with my designs by discussing and evaluating them to improve my ideas as well as being open to explorations and ideas I had, which I am very appreciative of.

3) What did I not enjoy the most?
To be frank, I enjoyed every aspect of this module, especially its projects. The only thing that was being a hindrance from creating designs as I desire to are the deadlines that we have to follow. The deadlines were rather reasonable but due to the fact that we were all required to show our progress for all modules every week, I did not have much time to fully focus on my projects and had to divide my time well between doing projects for other design modules. I believe that if we were given a longer time I could've improved most of my designs and come up with better ideas that take more time and effort to do.

4) What have I learnt about myself through this module?
This module has also taught me to push myself beyond my capabilities in each project throughout the semester and it has also helped me discover myself further, especially through the self portrait project. The self portrait project really pushed me to learn more about myself and that helped me identify my personality traits as well as how to express myself through my own personal art style. That project also allowed me to realize and notice how I express myself in all my artworks, which I also implemented in my final project, even though the final project had nothing to do with myself, I could still interpret my artwork into seeing myself in that position. Through this module and its freedom of creativity and the media used, it allows me to explore different art styles and develop my personalized art style throughout each project done, with each of them having a slight difference in their art style as I was still exploring to find my own.

5) What has changed and what has not through my learning journey?
Considering myself to have low confidence and appreciation for a majority of my artwork since I always set high standards and expectations for myself, this module has altered my way of viewing and judging my own art, in a way that I could appreciate the work I do more. I used to always be doubtful and insecure with my skills in art which contradicted with my out of the box ideas, high standards and expectations for my art work, thus making me hold back from starting work which constantly became a hindrance as there were deadlines that I needed to meet. This is where the module came in handy for me to be able to push myself to be more confident with my artwork. I do admit there were times where I was still doubtful about the work I create, but Ms Yip was always able to reassure me and aided me with my designs by discussing and evaluating them to improve my ideas as well as being open to explorations and ideas I had, which I am very appreciative of.

6) What could be improved in this module?
I've noticed that every student has their own distinct styles as design principles module is very open on the execution aspect, where we are allowed to use any form of medium and display any art style which gave us more freedom to explore our own personal art styles but since art is subjective, this made it hard for me to distinguish what is a good design or not; more specifically the expected standards for the design, since every student has their own distinct style and method of executing their design. I still couldn't really grasp the expected standards for the projects done in this module which I would expect to have more guidance and reassurance on that matter.
