Project 2 — Audio Storytelling

INSTRUCTIONS

TASK

For this task, we are instructed to pick one fairy-tale story of our choice and create an audiobook. So for this task, I picked the storybook from the series called Over the Garden Wall and started searching for the sound effects.

I recorded all the narration as well as the dialogues on my phone attached to a mic then imported them all into adobe audition to start tweaking the dialogues according to the characters.

On the part where it says "cleaving axe echoing through the silent forest" I used paramatic equalizer to tweak the audio to get an echo-y axe sound effect.

I then tweaked the decibel and volume line to adjust the volume as if its getting closer then further away as the audio fades out.

For Wirt’s lines, he normally speaks quite fast and jittery due to his anxious nature since hes known to be a "worry-wirt" in the series so I used pitch and stretch and lowered down the pitch but decreased the stretch so it sounds a little more sped up as if he’s anxious. I also used this pitch and stretch effect on Beatrice's voice as well as the woodsmans voice.

For the part where Greg tries to run away, I added heavy breathing combined with running in the forest footsteps as well as shouting for Greg. I also added forest ambience noise as well as other sound effects such as footsteps on gravel or leaves, rustling bushes and

I then combined everything on premier pro and added the pages of the storybook in.
