INSTRUCTIONS

TASK

For this task we are instructed to make an abstract motion graphics based on a specific theme or concept using any platforms or applications to achieve it.

1. RESEARCH

I decided to start with the storyboard and did some small sketches then looked for inspiration by watching Omori animations.

2. ASSETS & ANIMATION PROCESS

First I started off with the assets which were all drawn and cropped in procreate, then imported into After Effects.

I started off the first scene with the eye view POV using mask keyframes and increased the feather for that blurry effect.

For the wake up scene, I added a gaussian blur effect with keyframes in the start.

For the zoom in part into the void with the polaroids scene, I linked the objects to the null object and added position keyframes on the null object to zoom in.

For the 3D polaroid scene, I used null objects to control the camera movement around the polaroids and activated 3D camera on each of the polaroids and set up their positions. To end it off I added a spotlight.

To make the polaroid falling on the table look more realistic I applied 3D camera and added keyframes on the y and x axis.

I used a lot of the wiggle effect on objects which is linked with the slider control to control the intensity of the wiggle.

I added a slider control to control the intensity and timing of the polaroids as it gradually shakes more intense.

Opacity lowered for the eyes, and used scale keyframes to create some dynamism surreal effect along with the slider control to make the shaking more intense the longer it gets.

REFLECTION

It was pretty hard deciding a specific theme or a concept since I had a lot of ideas but I decided to just combine them all into one and one of my favourite parts about this is that we could use any mediums and media as well and any art style so I took a lot of inspiration from one of my favourite games, Omori.
